Pinko Loves Sandy

Photographer Mieng Saetia bought a box of Pinko cookies for his special lady Sandy on Valetine's Day and sent this great photo. The fantastic smile on Sandy's face says it all don't you think? You too can be smiling like this if you get some Pinkos in your tummy.

Thanks Mieng for mentioning Pinko on your blog!

Pinko Comments

Pinko's friends have nice things to say about Pinko:

"Received your cookies from my holiday order and wanted to say that they exceeded our expectations. I cannot stop eating them. They are dangerously addictive! Thank you so much for fulfilling our order and for sharing these secret little morsels with the world!"
~Michele, Georgia

"Just wanted to thank you for such great cookies and reliable service!"
~Lena, Hawaii

Thanks Michele and Lena for saying nice things! Pinko loves you! For everyone else, if you have something you'd like to say to us (good, bad or indifferent), then please, send us an email (pinkocookies@gmail.com). We'd love to chat and hear from you!

My Very Worst Date

Next to the motto of saying "Pinko loves you", another motto Pinko lives by is saying "things can ALWAYS be worse".

So in the spirit of Valentine's Day (sort of), if you find yourself bickering with your special someone or have no someone to bicker with, then check out My Very Worst Date . You'll not only see that things can be worse, but it just might make you appreciate your love life (or lack of) a little bit more.

These dating stories are funny, horrifying and some are just plain bizzarr-oh. Makes me appreciate Mr. Pinko (heee).

Pinko Loves Newlyweds

Pinko loves Virra and Ton, the happy new husband and wife! Woot woot woot! Pinko was honored to be a part of their elegant wedding at the Laguna Beach Montage Resort, meeting 100 of their special friends and family.

"Dear Pinko,
My husband and I are addicted to your cookies!! When we recently got married, we wanted to share them with our guests and give them out as party favors. They were such a hit!! Not only did they match our wedding decor, but our guests could not stop talking about how delicious they were. After our wedding we had 10 party favors left over, plus 2 large boxes. My husband probably ate about 6 small boxes, and the large boxes...the very next day!! I told you he was addicted!! " ~Love,Virra

The gorgeous photos were taken by the renowned Jasmine Star. Definitely check out her work, it's amazing and she's a creative and a beautiful person (inside and out)! AND, it turns out that she's met Pinko before:

It's funny because a couple months ago, I was sent a gift from a wedding coordinator in Orange County and she included Pinko cookies and I ate the ENTIRE BOX in a single sitting. From then, I was completely smitten with your goods. When I saw the cookies at Virra and Ton's wedding, my heart skipped a beat...I LOVED IT! :) In fact, during the reception, Ton walked over to be and said I had to try the amazingness that is Pinko...he was so right! :)I hope to work with your company again and if there's anything I can do, please feel free to let me know! :) Warmly,Jasmine*

SPA WEEK - Sept 15-21 ahhhhh

Need to relax after a crazy summer? Hold on tight everyone, it's officially "SPA WEEK"! Oh, if you could only see Pinko jumping up and down right now just saying these two lovely words.

Participating spas are giving select treatments for only $50!

Check it out at: http://spaweek.org/index.php

Pinko just booked herself and Mr. Pinko a 50 min swedish massage at the Pacific Waters Spa at the Huntington Beach Hyatt for $50 (normally $135).

Also highly recommend by Pinko is the Spa Intercontinental in Century City. You get your own private room with each treatment...the room has it's own flat screen tv, infiti tub, private outdoor patio and plenty of room to run around naked without having to worry about looky-loos.

It's wedding season! For all you busy brides-to-be who are constantly looking at wedding blogs like the knot, wedding bee, simple / modern weddings and social design, it is INDEED a crazy time for you! Pinko remembers her wedding day like it were yesterday...it was the happiest day of her life.

Here are some pictures from Pinko's wedding. And of course, there were Pinko cookies for all the guests to enjoy...they were a hit!

It's Friday, I'm in Love

Last weekend, Pinko and friends went to the Hollywood Bowl , one of Pinko's most favorite spots, to attend The Cure concert. Not a huge Cure fan, just familiar with the great old classics....songs that bring back memories of driving around town after high school football games in my dad's old Buick station wagon.

"Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Oh, Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love"

Don't we all feel this way sometimes? Pinko sure does.

Photos from the concert:

This guy sat right in front of Pinko. It took about 10mins. for Pinko to stop fixating on this guy's hair. So many questions came to Pinko's mind...how long does it take to make those spikes? When it rains, to your spikes start to droop?

Mr. Smith himself. I hate to say it, but he doesn't age very well.

Future Da Vincis' and Michelangelos'

For our past Valentine's Day Cookie Release, portions of the proceeds went to buying art supplies for Ms.Kim's 4th grade class at Plummer Elementary in North Hills, CA. Ms. Kim's class made Japanese screens for Mother's Day and a second art project that taught symmetry and complementary colors by creating these awesome masks! How talented are THESE 4th graders, huh? Thanks Ms. Kim for the photos!
The importance of art should never be overlooked in a child's development. If it weren't for all my classroom arts and crafts projects growing up that spurred the creative side to my imagination...Pinko wouldn't be who she is today.

More Travel Photos from Friends

Claire of Manhattan Beach, CA saw posted photos of Pinko's travels to the Philippines and was kind enough to share some of her favorite photos from the Philippines too!

This is Claire kayaking in chrystal clear water surrounding Danjugan Island, a marine sanctuary.

Did you know...that the Philippines is made up of 7,107 islands?

Boracay - Is it sand or flour? (Part 3 of 3)

(photo: crazy hungry fish)

Not only home of the most AMAZING looking friend Pinko made, but one of the most beautiful beaches ever! Boracay island was another vacation island Pinko visited while in the Philippines. The sand literally had the texture of baking flour...no joke. The best part of the trip was hanging out with family, Mr. Pinko and BFF. The itinerary for this island adventure went something like this:

  • Eat
  • Shop
  • Parasail (SCARY! But then surprisingly peaceful after initial panic subsided)
  • Eat again
  • Island hop by boat to visit neighboring islands
  • Eat (snacktime)
  • Massage ($8/hr on the beach...can't beat that!)
  • Eat (no wonder Pinko came back slightly more plump)
  • Snorkel and swim

It's hard to write this last Philippines post because it's just another reminder that the vacation is over (sigh). Hope you enjoyed the photos and the next time you want to go on a traveling adventure and see exotic islands, DO think of the Philippines. You won't regret it.

Palawan - A breathtaking site (Part 2 or 3)

A breathtaking island for vacationers, Pinko's 4 day itinerary on this beach resort went something like this:

  • Lounging under cabana on beach reading

  • Eating mangoes (the fruit of the Philippines)

  • Cave exploring, snorkeling, kayaking

  • Eating mangoes (if the juice runs down your hand/arm while eating it, you KNOW it's good)

  • Daily massage (in a bungalow over the water)

  • Eating mangoes (they were SO delicious, possibly even tastier than Pinko Cookies!)

  • Nothin' Vanilla About Manila (Philippines)

It's good to be home with all of Pinko's U.S. friends! Pinko just returned from spreading love while making new friends in the exciting Philippines! There's nothing plain jane about THIS country, let me tell ya!

Because this was probably one of the most memorable and cherished trips Pinko has ever taken, it is worthy of THREE seperate posts.

MANILA :: capital of the Philippines, this is where all the city action, hustle and bustle is. Pinko saw some great sites and ate and shopped and ate and shopped and ate and shopped....you get the picture.

    The Most Amazing Sight

Pinko just came back from a 2 week long, unbelievable stay in the Philippines! I'm working on a more in-depth post about the trip complete with photos, but I just HAD to post this photo of a stray animal that I met while on the island of Boracay, Philippines.

Check out the photo of this...um, cheetah? hyena? WRONG! It's a DOG. Crazy looking coat, huh? Are you as awe-stricken as Pinko? This may just be on the top of the list of amazing things Pinko has ever seen (or maybe I just don't get out much).

Guest Spot in Simple Modern Weddings

Pinko was featured in a Valentine's Day Giveaway on Simple Modern Weddings. We didn't even know this was going on until today (no WONDER our website has had so many hits this past week!). Congratulations MiShi for coming up with the best pick up line to win the contest "If I had a rose for every time I thought of you, I would be walking through my garden forever".

Loved reading the other participant comments. One in particular caught Pinko's attention:: "I’ve always wanted to try Pinko cookies, everyone has told me that they are totally orgasmic!!!" ORGASMIC. WOW. I remember when I did a wedding and someone tried Pinko Cookies for the first time. She found them so delicious she said she wanted to make love to me. That made Pinko blush.

    606 Lunches

Pinko Cookies was glad to donate a portion of our 2007 Winter Cookie Realease proceeds towards the Kids Of Kilimanjaro foundation. We received this very nice Thank You card from them saying that our donation will help provide 606 lunches to the school children in the Mondull District of Tanzania, East Africa.
"There is no money from the government, the district, the schools or the parents to provide lunch to pre-school and elementary school students. Since September 2005, Kids of Kilimanjaro has filled this void by providing a basic porridge lunch of corn maize, sugar, milk and rice or beans. We need to sustain this program, which currently reaches 10,105 students every day, but there are thousands more waiting for lunch."

2nd Annual Valentine's Day Cookie Release

Friday, February 8th - Deadline to Order for Valentine's Day delivery

It's Valentine's Day again and Pinko loves you (mu-wah)! Give cookies to the special peeps in your life that make you smile. A portion of the proceeds for this cookie release will be going towards art supplies for Mrs. Kim's 4th grade class at Plummer Elementary in North Hills, CA. Hopefully they can make a really cool art project for Pinko all of you to see.

Pinko's friend Chrystal from Agoura Hills wrote to us, saying:

"Supporting a class getting art supplies is something that really resonates with me, being an art lover and artist myself. Art is so important and yet so underfunded in our schools. I hope they’ll be able to afford the art supplies, and maybe we’ll get to see some of the resulting masterpieces on your blog."

    Meet Pinko! The Reveal...

People ALWAYS ask, who or what is "Pinko"? Well, wonder no more my friends, because here's a picture of the original Pinko! She's a tiny miniature white poodle, the cutest thing ever. She loves to lick and loves to make new friends.

She was our grandma's pet and Pinko brought so much joy to her. So there you have it folks, you've officially met the original Pinko. She's been descibed as an absolute "love muffin".

So, obviously (eyes rolling), the person writing this blog that refers to herself as "Pinko" is not a dog (sometimes I can be a bit of a bitch, but that's another story). It just makes it easier to write posts when I refer to myself as Pinko :)

    Sunday, January 6, 2008

    Mabuhay!

That's "greetings" in tagalog, the language widely spoken in the Philippines. Pinko will be traveling to this exotic region in February and maybe we'll run into these guys. These are inmates at CPDRC (Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center) who take penitentiary workout regimes to a whole-notha level! Turn on your volume for this one as you'll want to rock out like they do to Michael Jackson's "Thriller".

It would take Pinko YEARS to get THIS choreaographed, but then again, I guess these men have the time?

    The Year In Pinko

Happy New Year, Everybody! Thank you for making this year in Pinko spectacular. In 2007, Pinko:
    • launched a website
    • learned how to blog
    • contributed to society
    • traveled the world
    • made lots of new friends
    • experimented with fashion
In the '08, Pinko is considering:
    • experimenting with new flavors, like coconut, chocolate or maybe even salt and vinegar (joking)
    • exploring more of Asia, the continent for which Pinko has special fondness.
    • possibly working out. Everyone needs more exercise, right? Just think, more exercise = guilt free Pinkos!
    • launching a fashion line called, "Pinko by Pinko" The silhouettes will be inspired by Pinko's current outfit: Boxy, geometric, avant garde. Perhaps Pinko will try out for the next season of Project Runway (joking again)
Do you have any suggestions for Pinko in the '08?

Winter Cookie Release - Kids of Kilimanjaro

Pinko is donating a portion of the Winter Cookie Release to Kids of Kilimanjaro, a great cause which provides school lunches to children in the Monduli district of Tanzania.

Before KoK, these children walked miles to school without breakfast, and then endured the entire day without lunch. Here is a little about the orgnaization from the KoK website:Since Kids of Kilimanjaro was founded in 2005, the program has grown to feed over 10,000 students a nutritious lunch every school day. The results have been striking. Attendance at participating schools is at 100%. Schools have extended the school day by an hour because of the students increased capacity to learn and the government will be opening 15 additional schools in this upcoming school year to accommodate demand.

************************************************************************************* Thank you everyone for not only putting money in our cookie jar, but for putting money towards a good cause!

    Going to a Holiday Bazaar

Pinko was invited to sell cookies at a company's annual Holiday Bazaar craft fair. Cookie samples were passed out and we enjoyed meeting all kinds of new friends. Unfortunately, we didn't make millions, but it was great fun!

Pinko also picked herself up this unique eggplant colored sweater/poncho/cape? It has unique pom poms and flower pockets. Mr. Pinko grumbled in true male form about Mrs. Pinko spending the day's profits towards clothes. Little does he know that there were more things purchased that he's unaware of...muhahaha (evil laugh).

The rest of the proceeds from the day went to buying these books and puzzles. These will be donated to the "Toys for Tots" organization that gives Christmas gifts for deserving kids. Pinko's favorite childhood book is Amelia Bedelia, she's one kooky gal.

    Winter Cookie Release

    December 1-31, 2007

Now that Thanksgiving is officially over, it's ok to let the word out about our Winter Cookie Release! Hooray! Hard to believe it's time to go Christmas shopping already, especially for many of us SoCal-ers who are still wearing shorts and flip flops.

Place your orders early so that we can make sure there's enough Pinko power to fill it on time.

    Gobble Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! What are you thankful for? Sitting here typing and fighting a comatose state from eating too much turkey and deadly carbs, Pinko reflects on what she is MOST thankful for: a loving family and great friends. You don't really need anything more than that. Well, maybe that AND good food. Pinko loves food.

I hear my family hollering in laughter...gotta go and see what's up...and eat some more turkey ;)

P.S. to those people who are going to wait in line at 3am for black friday sales...you're crazy, but I admire your passion.

    More Friends and Photos!

Pinko's new friend Kelly from Ventura, CA recently sent in these photos. Pinko loves Kelly!

Pinko boxes carefully arranged side by side. Wonder how long it took?

Pinko Goes To A Baby Shower

Here's a pic of Pinko with a bunch of new friends. The mommy is the one in pink shirt kneeling down in the front row (she looks awesome, don't you think?). If you look closely, each lovely lady in the photo is delicately holding a box of mini-Pinko cookies! Pinko loves this! Thank you everyone for being Pinko's friend.

    ATTENTION...IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT...THIS JUST IN....
Pinko has received notice that Brooklyn arrived on Nov.10th! CONGRATULATIONS mommy, daddy and Brooklyn's 2 big brothers! Pinko loves Brooklyn!

    Happy Halloween Everyone!

    Pinko Is Back

Monday was Pinko's official return from hiatus. It was a nice vacation and now we're ready to start spreading the cookie love once again! Hope to hear from all of you soon.

Our next Cookie Release will be for the entire month of December! Whee! It'll be a pink(o) holiday indeed.

CAUTION: PUH-LEASE...if you're thinking about placing a December holiday order, DON'T wait until December to place it! Place it NOW. The sooner the better. Pinko has a feeling that at one point, due to a lack of Pinko power, we will have to stop taking orders. So really, send in your orders now!

Things To Do On Hiatus (Part 5)...

    Get a new outfit!

Always on the lookout for cute new outfits, Pinko found this adorable pink and chocolate striped ensemble. This outfit will be available for the upcoming Christmas Cookie Release.

Additional outfit not shown: Pinko is working on getting a "super big" size for the holiday season. It'll be good for office peeps and families to share. Stay tuned for more...

Things To Do On Hiatus (Part 4)...

    Bring Sexy Back

Overnight, Pinko found herself going from the Hollywood Bowl to the Justin Timberlake concert...talk about doing a musical 360! Surrounded by screaming teenage girls and grumpy boyfriends suckered into bringing their girlfriends, Pinko and her BFF rocked the night away (good times, good times). The excitement and energy among the audience was amazing and contagious. At one point, Pinko was even a little dissapointed that she didn't invest in a fedora hat to sport at the concert in true fan fashion.

Not exactly entering the concert as Justin's #1 fan, Pinko left the concert with a new found respect for this artist. He has awesome dance skills and it's always refreshing to see a young pop-star who knows how to play not just one, but two musical instruments. Needless to say, a few new songs will be added to the ipod. So Pinko says to you, JT, "Mu-wah" (air kiss) to you babe, keep up the sexy!

    See review

Thanks M.K. for the tickets, you're the best! Pinko loves you!

As Pinko and BFF stood among all the young screaming girls, we reminisced about the last concert we went to together...Def Leppard in the early 90's. We're still debating whether going to the Justin Timberlake concert the other night was a step forward or backward.

P.S. We should all be grateful that the long haired look on guys hasn't made a comeback.

Things To Do On Hiatus (Part 3)...

    Listen to some tunes.

Pinko listening to tunes on ipod (notice smart color coordination between ipod and Pinko's outfit). And in case you're wondering what music video Pinko is watching, it's Britney Spears. This was downloaded before her tragic demise. (Sigh) Oh Britney, what happened?

    Pinko Loves The Hollywood Bowl
Pinko spent a lovely evening under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl, listening to the awesome music of Pink Martini. The Hollywood Bowl is a fantastic venue, everyone should put it on their list of summer activities. Pinko enjoyed the company of great friends (thanks again for inviting us, friends!), a yummy picnic and wine (maybe even enjoying the wine a little too much). It was a fabulous show that ended with a bang of bright fireworks.

    Monday, September 10, 2007

Things To Do On Hiatus (Part 2)...

    Get a spot on a fashionista's blog.

SocialDesign's blog is a must-see site for anything design and wedding related. These fashionistas clearly have a knack for fashion, color and coming up with original ideas. Even if you're too lazy to read, you can spend hours just scrolling and mousing away at all the creative ideas laid out in awesome photos. If you're planning an event or just feeling ho-hum with a desperation for fresh new ideas, go to the site. Pinko loves SocialDesign!

See what they have to say about Pinko Cookies in their entry entitled "Deliciousness". They have really good wedding suggestions for Pinko Cookies:

    • Send them to bridesmaids asking them to be a part of your wedding

    • Have as favors at the rehearsal dinner waiting on each guest's plate

    • Have the cookies in a pile to grab from as guests leave your party

See? What'd we tell you, these ladies have great ideas!

Things To Do During Hiatus (Part 1) ...

    Escape the HEAT!

August 29th was the beginning of Pinko's official month long break. And the FIRST thing Pinko did? ESCAPE THE HEAT! Fellow So.Cal residents, you know what it's been like.

Pinko took an extended labor day weekend vacay in Mammoth, CA. Gorgeous and best of all, COOL and BREEZY (temperatures were in the low to mid 70's...aaahhhh). Hiking, fishing, reading, relaxing and just enjoying the outdoors. Pinko loves Mammoth. Check out some of the things Pinko did:

    Enjoying the view and nature

Pinko relaxing and doing a little sunbathing

Frolicking in the grass and just hanging around (wheee!!)

Devil's Postpile - when the volcano errupted 100,000 years ago, these are some of the formations the lava made when it cooled. Amazing!

BEAUTIFUL lakes and cool places to fish for trout

    Pinko Goes On Hiatus

    Pinko is officially on hiatus
    August 29th through September 30th

So why the break you ask? Well, if TV shows like "Grey's Anatomy", "Smallville" and "Heroes" can go on hiatus for the summer, why not Pinko? Obviously there are good reasons why TV shows go on hiatus, forcing us to watch re-runs. They use the time to make fresh new episodes, improve their strategic marketing plans and maybe even sneak in some R&R. This is exactly what Pinko Cookies will be doing as well and will go live again Oct. 1st.

So to all of our friends out there, PUH-LEASE don't forget about us! Just because Pinko won't be around for a little bit doesn't mean that Pinko doesn't love you.

    Glam Photo Shoot

Pinko felt like such a glamorous celebrity when photographer Mel Barlow snapped away. Mel is a talented photographer and wonderful person. She is a renowned wedding photographer and takes photos with a fresh and artistic style.

    Pinko loves Mel!

Okay, so here are some photos from the shoot...drumroll please...

Not afraid of a close up! The site of the pecans covered in a sweet, buttery, caramel-like coating has GOTTA make your mouth water.

Shots of Pinko in wardrobe. This is the "classic" look. Simple, clean, fresh and modern.

Check out Pinko's new outfit! Yeah baby! Every cookie has GOT to have that special outfit for extra special occasions, right?

The hot pink polka-dot outfit screams "look at me! am I not sexy?". While the pastel pink polk-dot outfit is a softer, more subtle look.

Why work when you can eat Pinko Cookies?

Attention UCLA Admissions Staff: Thanks for tasting our cookies and most of all THANK YOU for the awesome photos! If we had an actual marketing budget, we would SO hire all of you to be our spokesmodels. Hope you enjoyed the cookies and hope to hear from you soon!

Here are some of Pinko's new Bruin friends! Notice the big SMILES on their faces. Wonder what would happen if you slipped one MILLION (insert voice of Dr.Evil here) Pinko boxes with your admission application? hmmm....

Oh, and shameless plug...Pinko DOES do large size cookie platters. So remember us for all your future catering and party event needs.

    Pinko and Soccer Friends

GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLL!!!! On Saturday June 30th, Pinko made some soccer player friends this past weekend at the 3rd annual Stiletech Soccer Tournament in San Francisco, CA, a benefit for the Brightline Defense Project. It was an electrifying challenge between the North and South. The score was 2-0 in favor of the South.

Here's the winning team photo. Handsome bunch. Way to go South!

    Pinko with Stiltech trophy display.

    Pinko cookies BEFORE the party.

Here's what was left of Pinko cookies by the end of the night. Judging by the variety of drinks surrounding Pinko, it was indeed, a very good party.

Please note: Pinko does not in anyway, encourage the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Okay, maybe just one or two during times of celebration AND if you're of legal age, but don't go overboard.

EXCITING NEWS! Pinko was in the May issue of Orange County's Riviera Magazine! We are so thrilled and honored! Pinko was a part of "The Radar Now!" section of the magazine that spotlights cool / new / hip people, products and...cookies :) Pinko loves Riviera Magazine and Victoria.

Just in case you can't read the article (we don't want you to miss out on it), here's what it says:

    Cookie Chic
J.K.'s Pinko Cookies are oh-so-cute, bite-size sweets packaged in a chic Chinese takeout box. "People love the packaging and design," says Kobata, who named the cookies after her grandmother-in-law's mini poodle. Boxes of the Seal Beach-based cookies go for $5-8, and a portion of the proceeds go to a rotating charity of J.K.'s choice. While she's playing around with adding chocolate, coconut or white chocolate to the mix, for now it's all about this toffee and pecan version that's only available during holidays or by special order - but who's complaining? Successful Mother's Day Cookie Release

Our Mother's Day Cookie Release was a blast! For all of you Mothers out there, we hope you had a very special day because you deserve it. Thanks to our loyal Pinko friends, Pinko Cookies was able to share some of our good fortune with Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

We're still recovering from the cookie craziness of Mother's Day (whew). Still thinking about when our next Cookie Release will be..."Pinko loves Dads and Grads" or "Pinko Kicks off the Summer Right"...all good possibilities, so be on the lookout.

If you have any suggestions or comments, please, let us know. Leave them down here at the bottom of this post where it says "comments". Don't be shy!
